The Mouse Pad – Materials Used

January 27th, 2012 . by admin

Most of the mouse pads that were made in the earlier days came in synthetic materials like rubber. It was not just plain rubber as there was some sort of fabric bonded to the upper surface of the mouse pad. Though the major objective behind using rubber as material for the mouse pad was to increase the friction between the surface and the ball, a surface purely made of rubber would create too much friction and the movement of the mouse on the pad would become extremely difficult. Other than rubber, there are many other materials used for making mouse pads. Some of the other materials used are fabric, neoprene, plastics, glass, leather, cork, aluminum, wood, stone, and steel. Mats that are used by gamers were usually made of glass and aluminum. Though many materials were used to make the mouse pads, only few of them are used by the current generation of users.
